Seminyak Italian restaurant Kebun Zibiru is a lovely Italian restaurant which I periodically return to when I am down that way.
The interior
A friend had been there to eat and said the food was really good and wanted to meet up for dinner, with directions including ‘look out for the three pigs going into the restaurant’. Mmmmmmm!!??? (see the photo at the bottom of this page)
Situated in Seminyak, on Jalan Drupadi which runs between Jalan Dhyanapura, Seminyak Italian restaurant Kebun Zibiru has three distinct areas for sitting – inside near the bar, outside or upstairs on the terrace.
And yes, it really does have a parade of ceramic pigs coming from the road into the central courtyard: big pink and white ones. Kids and older people love them apparently. I thought they looked cute, very eccentric.
There is an upstairs patio area which is a very nice space for an a quiet dinner.
Luigi, one of the owners of Seminyak Italian restaurant Kebun Zibiru, brought us a fabulous complementary plate of Italian prosciutto, which if you are a pork eater gives new meaning to ‘pigging out’! Yum!
He brought out some homemade bread also which was really good too..
Looking at the menu, which is not large, it is all so delicious sounding that our group deliberately ordered different things so we could taste more dishes.
So the chicken rolls, barramundi and snapper were all delicious.
Listing the meals like that does the food an injustice as every bite was yum. See the photo of the snapper below
They have a small (alcoholic) drinks menu, consisting of beer and and a small selection of reasonable Italian and Chilean wines, which can be bought by the glass or bottle.
See the bottom of this page for more photos of Kebun Zibiru
When we finished a very convivial dinner, just to push us over the top into oral bliss, Luigi brought us a complementary glass of homemade Limoncelli, an Italian lemon liquer, a completely different experience to the commercial varieties.
Mmmmm again. Lots of ‘mmmm’s actually.
I will definitely come back to work my way through the menu.
Having eaten at a lot of Seminyak restaurants over time I was very impressed with this one in terms of quality of food, its presentation, the environment and the price. (At around 90,000 for a main meal it was surprisingly cheap).
Kebun Zibiru Bali Seminyak Italian restaurant is definitely in the top 100 Bali restaurants, and in top 10 of Bali Italian restaurants.
I returned there in September 2013 and was similarly impressed with the food.
The layout of the restaurant has changed, with a new deck upstairs under the stars.
Also plans are proceeding to open an Italian deli where local homemade Italian specialities will be available, along with imported goods.
