Zibiru, the beloved Seminyak restaurant renowned for its made-from-scratch regional Italian cuisine, is embarking on an exciting new chapter.

Since opening its doors in 2012, Zibiru has captured the hearts of food enthusiasts, wine lovers, jazz music aficionados, and romantics seeking intimate dining and low conversation. Now, with the passing of the baton, Zibiru welcomes a new executive chef, Gianluca Visciglia, while honoring the legacy of executive chef Luigi Calcagno.

Chef Gianluca Visciglia's culinary journey began in the picturesque town of Merate, nestled between Milan, Como, and Bergamo in northern Italy. It was here that his passion for food began to flourish, setting the stage for a remarkable career in the culinary arts. Gianluca's adventures took him to Florence, Tuscany, and the captivating Chianti hills, where he completed his culinary education and embraced the nuances of Tuscan cuisine.

With over two decades of culinary expertise, Chef Gianluca has left his mark on the global culinary scene, with stops in Indonesia, the Philippines, Oman, and back to Indonesia, where he found his culinary home in Bali. His unique culinary style draws inspiration from a rich tapestry of memories, from his early years in northern Italy to his formative experiences in Tuscany and his family roots in southern Italy, particularly Puglia. This diverse background infuses our menu with authentic modern Italian cuisine, offering a comprehensive culinary journey from the north to the south of Italy.

As Chef Luigi passes the baton to Chef Gianluca, Zibiru continues to be a gastronomic haven for those seeking the finest in Italian cuisine. Chef Luigi’s dedication to traditional, handmade culinary delights has been a hallmark of Zibiru's offerings. His legacy lives on as Chef Gianluca brings his own unique perspective to the kitchen, creating a seamless transition that preserves the restaurant's commitment to excellence.

Zibiru remains a unique meeting point for the five senses, where patrons can dine under the stars amidst lush tropical flora, or savor a meal in the restaurant's cozy non-smoking interior. The restaurant's dedication to sourcing the finest ingredients locally and from Italy ensures that each dish is a masterpiece of flavor and freshness.

The Restaurant

Our space boasts a modern take on old Bali's interior design, blending authentic details with contemporary elements. The whitewashed facade, hand-carved wooden interiors, and handmade furnishings evoke the nostalgic charm of old Bali, while the updated aesthetic adds a fresh and inviting feel. This homey, convivial feeling is one you get throughout the open air space the minute you step through our doors. 

In addition, our bar was inspired by the cozy and intimate ambiance of Japanese audiophile cafes, aka "kissaten". These cafes are known for their dedication to high-quality audio equipment and vinyl music, as well as their relaxed atmosphere and emphasis on customer experience. Our bar, open until midnight, similarly focuses on providing a sensory experience through music and drinks, with a curated selection of premium spirits and a sound system designed to enhance the music listening experience.

Whether you're looking for a quiet place to enjoy a drink or a lively atmosphere to socialize, our bar offers a unique blend of tradition and innovation that is sure to satisfy.

We are also available for private dining and catering, and events. Whether it be a wedding, anniversary, birthday, reunion or any other type of special event large or small, our team of specialists will work closely with you to create an unforgettable experience.

Bottega Italiana Bali

Our gourmet marketplace aims to satisfy any appetite with a variety of Italian specialty foods. Bottega Italiana Bali showcases the best of what Italy has to offer (all homemade by yours truly) using premium, organic ingredients. From fresh pastas and traditional sauces, to panini (vegetarian/vegan options also available), cured meats, wine and cheese, each dish represents different regions of Italy from the north to the south.

Each of our locations are named after an herb used in Italian cooking:
- Rosmarina (rosemary) Batu Bolong, Canggu 
- Timo (thyme) Petitenget, Kerobokan
- Origano (oregano) in Berawa, Canggu
- Menta (mint) Pererenan, Canggu
